One Eye Open

In September of 2014, San Jose, CA made international headlines when it was announced that the city would evict and clear out over 300 people who were living in an area along the banks of Coyote Creek known as “The Jungle.”

In the winter of 2014 I met a group of heroes from onRoute22 and Destination Home trying to house women in the area and help them find their path forward. And through them I met an extraordinary village of women surviving and helping each other survive hour by hour, day to day, and week on week.

I celebrate their power, their resilience, and their kindness with these images.
